About the opportunity:

This is a highly visible role, working with 3 product lines (Truck Cranes, Rough Terrain Cranes & Boom Trucks).  Reporting to a Chief Engineer, this Structural Design Project Engineer will need to be capable of taking a lead role in developing new hydraulically telescoping cranes.  This person will be responsible for all phases of product development including: Engineering project management, CAD design, analysis, test supervision, working with suppliers, meeting design standards, problem solving, and production support.  This position offers a competitive compensation package (salary & bonus), a range of excellent benefits and reasonable relocation assistance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Mobile Heavy Equipment Engineering Experience with a minimum of 10 years experience in the design and manufacture of mobile heavy equipment, or a related industry
  • BS Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or AG Engineering (BSAE)
  • Relevant Technical Background: Weldment Design (Crane Boom & Jib Design), Steel Fab, Hydraulic Cylinders, Hydraulic Systems, and Plate Buckling
  • 3D CAD Experience & Comfort with MS Office Programs
  • Experience with Applicable Design Standards & Familiarity with ASME Steel Specifications

Home to the University of Northern Iowa

Terex Cranes, an operating unit of Terex, designs and manufactures boom trucks along with a wide variety of mobile and stationary cranes. This Chief Engineer – Boom Trucks position will be located in Waverly, IA and will be responsible for the current product maintenance activities as well as setting new product development direction of the boom truck line, in coordination with the Sales and Marketing Departments. This highly visible position will report to the General Manager and will lead a team of approximately six Engineers and Designers.

Jordan-Sitter Associates (JSA) is a 30+ year old, family-owned, retained search firm. We have been retained by Terex Cranes to help them find a Chief Engineer – Boom Trucks. This position will be based in Waverly, IA.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – Please Read

  • Heavy Mobile Crane Engineering Experience – Specific experience with hydraulic cranes – ideally boom trucks – is essential
  • Engineering Project Management and Actual People Management Experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering, ideally Mechanical Engineering, is required
  • Comfort with Relevant Testing and Analysis Processes and/or Standards specifically: Stress analysis – structural analysis, FEA (finite elect analysis), and ASME & SAE crane stability and test standards
