About the Opportunity:

This Aerodynamics Engineer position requires a strong background in computational and experimental aerodynamics. In addition, knowledge of aerodynamic load control and wind energy experience is highly regarded. This very dynamic position is based in what some people call one of the nicest suburbs in all of California, and will include projects ranging from the aerodynamic design of active load control systems for wind turbine blades to developing data acquisition software for field-testing. The ability to proficiently perform computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations and wind tunnel testing are required. The position also demands creativity and motivation, with the ability to rapidly transition from one aspect of a project to the other.

Desired Qualifications:

• Masters degree or higher in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, a PHD is preferred
• Experience in low speed (low subsonic) aerodynamics is required – Experience in 3D, rotational aerodynamics including wind turbines, rotorcraft, etc. desired.
• Wind Turbine OEM Experience Required – 3-5 years of experience is required
• Proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics is required – including software packages used for pre-processing (e.g. grid generation), simulation, and post-processing
• Aerodynamic load control experience is strongly desired, including slats, flaps, air jets, suction, etc
• MATLAB proficient – prior experience with this software mandatory
• Programming experience – in FORTRAN or C or C++ required
• Design experience is required
• Must relocate to location within reasonable commuting distance of the Rocklin, California (Sacramento) area
